Sensitile Terrazzo™
Hundreds of light-conducting channels embedded in fine terrazzo tiles or slabs create the dynamic experience of light where one is conditioned to expect a shadow and vice versa. The surprising result is a shifting, shimmering, and twinkling response to light, movement, and shadows.

Our hand-crafted materials are not simply stamped from stock, but start from raw materials. Each has a unique story as it goes through the iterative, detailed process of production. We are proud to source all of our raw materials from USA suppliers. We work closely with our supply chain to ensure that only the highest quality ingredients are used to create our award-winning architectural and design products.
Sensitile Terrazzo is a sustainable material containing at least 6% and up to 18% post-consumer recycled content, as well as a significant proportion of regrind.
Patterns
Window-like light terminals are arranged on the surface of the material in random, grid or staggered grid patterns for a range of aesthetics.
Terminal Type
Square and Round terminals each impart a distinctive style.
Terminal Size
Smaller terminals are apt for close-up and small-scale applications, while the edgy and distinct look of larger, more widely spaced terminals complement large-scale installations.
Surface Finish
Surface reflectance is imparted by the surface finish - from the high reflectivity of polished pieces to the muted effect that comes from a sandblasted finish.
Sealers
The choice of sealer is determined by how the surface will be used. Food safe sealers are used for kitchens, restaurants and bars.
Exterior
Interactive terrazzo pavers and slabs, activated by light and movement, make a distinctive surface that can be customized to a specified shape and size. Round light terminals are available for exterior applications.
Aggregate and Fiber
Speckled colors and fibers add visual complexity and interest.
Shapes & Curves
Each slab is individually formed and cast, making it possible to achieve organic shapes and details that are integral to each piece rather than fabricated with glue joints. These include cut-outs, drop-down corners and many more.
Environmentally friendly and Sustainable
As well as creating innovative, dynamic spaces, light-manipulating materials will not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during their production or their lifecycle, making them safe for use in an interior environment. They are PVC- and formaldehyde-free and contain no chemicals of concern.
Third party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)s, Health Product Declaration (HPD)s, and recycled content certification are available for our materials.

Arrangement of terminals on the surface can be customized to the design intent of a project.
Metal or color inlays are perfect for branding and logo design.
Exposed edges and corners are finished to specified profiles.
The material can be cast into complex curves.
Design possibilities are expanded exponentially due to the ability to form into shapes.
Seamless shapes are possible. Size and shape will need to be evaluated for feasibility.
Sensitile Terrazzo does not need complex lighting, but responds to ambient conditions without the need for electricity, electronics or sensors.
Material can be provided with hardware as a complete packaged solution.
Engraving on the surface makes the material a perfect solution for brand and signage design.
