Silicon Labs
Austin, Texas
A centerpiece of Silicon Lab's Gensler-designed headquarters in Austin is a cantilevered staircase entirely encased in raw concrete. Within this stairwell lies a band of Terrazzo Lumina with addressable LED lighting on its edges, creating a dynamically moving play of light. The specified Terrazzo Lumina has dimensional light points that are 'expressed' or protrude from the surface. This, combined with the sand-blasted finish, gives the light a 3-dimensional quality.
